5-Day Mushing Immersion

This 5-day all inclusive program is designed to immerse you in the world of dog sledding and the north western Ontario environment and culture. By the end of your stay with us, you will be self-sufficient with your dog team and will test your new skills on a camping trip in the backcountry of this rugged region of Ontario.

Day 1

On the first day, we will pick you up in town or at the airport early in the morning and bring you to our country home just outside of Thunder Bay where you will be introduced to your team of dogs. You will be given plenty of instruction on everything you need to know in order to handle and care for your dogs and operate the sled. Then we'll head off for your first time on the dog sled.

Day 2

On day 2, we'll go off on a full day trip and explore the region's deep cultural and natural history while continuing to build relationships with the dogs.

Day 3

On the third day, we'll give the dogs a day of rest while we explore Thunder Bay. You can choose from any number of activities on this day. We can tour unique shopping districts, visit museums, galleries, and studios, or explore parks and wild spaces. See our friends page for some potential activities.

Day 4 & 5

On the last two days of your visit, we'll be packing up the sleds and heading out on a long distance trip into the wild storied landscape of northern Ontario for a camping trip. The dogs will pull us over some fascinating geologic landforms, through a range of boreal forest ecosystems, and along trails of historic significance. We'll arrive at our campsite where a cozy, heated canvas tent awaits us near the shores of a northern lake surrounded by mature white pines that remind us of how Ontario used to look. Our arrival home will most certainly bring about the exhilaration of accomplishing this challenging adventure with your team of new friends.
